Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Te Tiriti o Waitangi Statement
At Ormiston Primary School, we recognise and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a foundational document for Aotearoa New Zealand. We give precedence to the Māori version of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, which informs our commitment to the values and aspirations of Māori as tangata whenua.
Our school stands on the understanding that the articles of Te Tiriti Kāwanatanga, Te Tino Rangatiratanga, Ōritetanga, and Wairuatanga are integral to fostering a learning environment that reflects partnership, respect, and shared responsibility.
We are dedicated to ensuring that these articles guide our approach to education, affirming the status of Māori as tangata whenua, while also embracing the diverse identities, cultures, and backgrounds of all our students, staff, and whānau. Our school is committed to promoting equity and inclusivity, where every learner has the opportunity to thrive in a respectful, culturally responsive, and diverse community.
Through collaboration with our local mana whenua and ongoing reflection, we will continue to ensure that Ormiston Primary School is a place where all students feel a sense of belonging (Tūrangawaewae) and where the principles of equity and diversity are upheld for all.
